The Clarence T. C. Ching Foundation presents

the Fifth Annual "Inspired in Hawaii" Essay, Poster and Video Contest

 

For those who are still looking for a Community Project event, this is an excellent way to fulfill your requirements without having to attend a specific event during set times. 

 

A copy of your final product must be included in your Community Project with all accompanying research and reflections.

 

Follow the directions and deadlines in the Contest Rules very carefully. If you need help, see Sensei right away!

 

Contest Theme:  The Clarence T. C. Ching Foundation "Inspired in Hawaii" Conest is desgined to encourage Hawaii's students to dream bi and make Hawaii a better place.  

 

The task is to identify a problem and offer solutions through one of the following modes:

 

  • Essay:  identify a problem in Hawaii and offer a solution for the problem.

  • Poster:  portray a problem and offer a solution in the form of a poster. 

  • Video:  create a PSA that clearly depicts a problem in Hawaii and offers a creative solution

 

Focus your search for a problem by identifying something related to foreign language/miscommunication because of lack of language ability or a cultural understanding issue. Your solution can also focus on how bilingual or multi-lingual ability and deep awareness and understanding of cultural differences and similarities could be the answer to the problem.

 

You should also add in as much Japanese as possible.

 

Deadline:  Send out your entries by Wednesday, December 3, 2014 to be sure you meet the final deadline as set in the contest rules.
