Quarter 1 Final Assessment

Task:

Write a description of yourself or a good friend for our “Friend Finding” service.

Include a picture of the person (a photo or drawing) you are describing.

Do not divulge any personal contact information in your description.

Preparation:

Use these parameters to print out your poster on white paper with your picture (photo or drawing) already added, or bring a picture that fits in the space provided and glue it on during class.

This is a timed, hand-written essay assessment. Notes, guides, dictionaries or any other assistance is NOT permitted during the assessment period. 

Writing Format:

Start by putting the person's name directly above the picture.

Use the rest of the space below the picture to write your description in Japanese. Try writing vertically. If you know any kanji, use it and write the ふりがな/reading on the right-side of the character.

Prepare a bubble map or outline of the things you can say about the person.

Be sure to try and include the following:

  • vital statistical data (name, age, residence, occupation, etc.)

  • physical characteristics, present and past (height, hair and eye color, etc.)

  • personality traits (type of person, interests, hobbies, preferences, etc.)

  • activities (what they do habitually, did in the past, will do in the future, etc.)
