Hiroshima Kokutaiji Sr. High School and Moanalua High have been Sister -Schools since 2001.

Every year, 240 juniors from Kokutaiji Sr. High School take their school trip to Hawaii. They come to visit Moanalua High for a day of activities and presentations, sponsored by the World Language Learning Center.

The day starts with an opening ceremony. Each school prepared a gift that represents the culture and history of the school, city or area. These gifts can be seen in the main office.

The formal program includes speeches from the administrators and students. Each year, Moanalua 's Japanese Club prepares a 1000-crane display for the students to take back as on offering to the Hiroshima Peace Park or for their own memorial on the Kokutaiji campus. All students taking a World Language at Moanalua are invited to participate in this exciting activity.

The event continues with conversation activities, shared teaching activities, campus tours and lunch in the cafeteria. The highlight of the day is Kokutaiji's presentation of a traditional dance on the football field for the entire school. Moanalua students are invited to join the Kokutaiji students after the performance to learn the dance.

The day is filled with laughter, wild guestures and a lot of group effort as the students try to communicate with each other.
